Canada's federal statutory holidays are established under the Canada Labour Code and apply to employees in federally regulated industries, including banking, telecommunications, interprovincial transportation, and the federal public service. In 2027 there are 11 federal statutory holidays. Employees entitled to these days receive their regular pay whether or not they work; those required to work on a federal statutory holiday are entitled to premium pay at 1.5 times their regular rate, plus a substitute day off. Not all provinces and territories observe every federal holiday — for example, Remembrance Day is not a statutory holiday in Ontario, Quebec, or several other provinces — and each province may add its own provincial holidays such as Family Day, Heritage Day, or Civic Holiday.

The most significant holidays in Canada's 2027 calendar span a wide range of national, religious, and cultural traditions. Good Friday and Easter Monday in late March reflect the country's Christian heritage and are observed by the majority of employers across all sectors. Victoria Day on May 24 marks the birthday of Queen Victoria and the current reigning monarch, making Canada one of the few countries to maintain this observance. Canada Day on July 1 is the centrepiece of the calendar — a nationwide celebration of Confederation in 1867. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, added as a federal statutory holiday in 2021, falls on September 30 and honours the survivors of residential schools and the legacy of those who did not return home, reflecting Canada's commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
